Catalyst New Music is joining forces with Boston Singers' Resource to bring you FUSE: Collaborations in Song, a uniquely collaborative song-development process between singer, composer, and poet that will result in the creation of amazing new songs that are tailor-made for the singers who will give their world-premiere performance!
We will be assembling 5 artist trios, each comprised of a singer, composer, and poet, who will together explore themes of mutual interest to develop a song or set/cycle of songs for a total of 8-12 minutes of music.
Artists with a collaborative spirit are strongly encouraged to apply, and we are committed to lifting up the voices of those who have been historically excluded from the creative process.
The instrumentation must be for one singer and piano.
Singers must be fully learned, memorized, and off-book for the performance.
Guidance and input from artistic staff at Boston Singers' Resource and Catalyst New Music will be available as desired.
All artists will be expected to attend in the virtual Meet & Greet and Workshop with guest composer, Matthew Aucoin, on Oct 22, 2022 from 11:30am-2:00pm EDT.
All artists will be provided with a professional recording of the final recital performance on February 11, 2023. Composers/poets are encouraged but not required to attend in person.
Complete this application by October 15 to be considered, and don't forget to hit SUBMIT at the end! You will hear from us by October 21. Please hold October 22 from 11:30am-2:00pm EDT (Meet & Greet) and the evenings of February 11 & 18 (Performance & snow-date) in your calendar.
